about me

I am a certified art teacher and professional artist in Des Moines, Iowa. For over 30 years, I have been painting watercolor and pastel landscape, still life and architectural subjects. I have painted commissioned pieces for clients throughout the United States and have exhibited my work in numerous galleries and juried shows within the Midwest. I am fortunate to have received awards and honors for many of my works.

I am a charter member of the Iowa Pastel Society, member of Associated Artists of Central Iowa, and have served on the board of the Polk County Heritage Gallery, promoting the exhibition of artworks by Iowa artists.

My passion for painting and teaching has led to some very fulfilling experiences: I have taught drawing and painting at the Des Moines Art Center and for Community Adult Education, as well as in the Johnston and Des Moines Public School districts over the past 25 years. I hold a BA degree in Art Education and MA in Education, but continue to explore new techniques and practice my skills through weekly painting sessions with other local artists.
