Des Moines Art Classes

Drawing from over 25 years of teaching experience, I provide painting and drawing instruction in my Des Moines studio for students of all skill levels, ages ten and up. Whether teaching a group or private class, I use a variety of teaching methods and materials in order to meet the artistic needs and interests of each of my students.

Fees

Group classes (3-6 students) -- $120 for 6 weekly 2-hour sessions.

Private lessons -- $275 for 6 weekly 2-hour sessions. These are scheduled on an individual basis.

Teaching Philosophy

Art appreciation is of utmost importance in the artistic development of my students. We are surrounded by art in various forms each day, yet often we don't recognize or appreciate them in terms of their aesthetic value. I believe that purposeful and careful attention to spatial relationships, shapes, form, values and colors -- in other words, to see as an artist sees -- is the basis for the development of artistic skill.
